The Appropriate Antibiotic Use Self-Efficacy Scale (AAUSES) was developed in 2016, underwent psychometric examination in 2017, and a manuscript documenting its development and initial validation was published in Patient Education and Counseling in 2018.

- The scale was designed to be widely and freely available for use in research and clinical settings.

- Permission is not required to use the scale. The AAUSES can be used in paper-and-pencil format or as an online questionnaire (e.g., via Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey). While permission is not required to use the scale, I will request that researchers/clinicians indicate their intent to use the scale and send publications resulting from the use of the scale to [email protected]. Please also be sure to include the appropriate reference (Hill & Watkins, 2018) when using the AAUSES.
